we welcome locals and holiday makers to enjoy our beautiful village and amenities.

This edition’s focus is on keeping active. There is so much happening in the village that you might like to try and is suitable for all ages. We’ve chosen 3 regular activities that are sociable and fun. Other activities are advertised on notice boards around the village and in the halls.
Regular Weekly Activities:
Yog-ease

Jenny attended her first yoga class as a teenager in North Wales and funnily enough found it a little too slow for her! It wasn’t until she lived in Australia in her twenties, travelling around SE Asia, that she started practising yoga regularly and became ‘hooked’.

“Practising yoga at sunrise on the rooftops in India, I started to feel the profound benefits of this ancient practice,” she says. really enjoyed it. That’s what got me started.” Jenny went on to do the full three-year Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga. Over the last 20+ years, she has gained qualifications in Yoga for Health, Lower Backs, working with children. She has taught for the local MS Society in Shropshire and worked with MIND. Having settled in West Wales, Jenny teaches two classes on a Monday morning in Aber porth. Both use breath work, stretching and relaxation to bring the proven benefits of yoga to all bodies and all abilities. The first session (9.45-11.00) is based around gentle floor work, while the second one (11.15-12.15) uses chairs and other supports and is specifically designed for people with physical limitations.
Loving Lindy Hop
A Sunday evening 7.00 – 8.30pm volunteer-led class suitable for all ages.
You don't need a partner to take part and this friendly sociable dance style is fun! Started in Spring 2025 we are getting to grips with basic steps and learning lovely short routines

both dancing solo and partnered. A very enjoyable feature is discovering the wonderful array of swing music from the 1930s onwards that provides the soundtrack and inspiration for this dance style.

Classes start again in September with a Beginners class followed by an Improvers class Sarah Powell Barker gospart@hotmail.com
Panache Dance and Fitness

Sarah Rouet runs the regular fitness dance class in the village hall known as Panache. Sarah has been dancing since she was 7 and studied performing arts at college. Sarah moved into producing many live stage shows with Spirit of The Dance that took her around the world. Luckily for us she has returned to her family home in Llandudoch/St Dogmaels and brings her energy and musicality to West Wales. The classes are very friendly and great fun with a full body workout and you’ll find yourself singing along to iconic tunes from stage and screen. Come along, it’s great fun! Aber-porth Village Hall Tuesdays 6.00 – 7.00pm. Ph 07359 080672 FB: ‘Panache dance fitness with Sarah R’
Regular weekly groups are publicised in the Village Hall and on noticeboards – other activities include Pickleball, Bowls, Tai Chi, FitSteps with Judi, Brownies, Rainbows etc.
Managing the Village amenities

We are aware that the playpark in Aber-porth is in need of a refurbishment. The village hall has donated and amongst other things we hope that there will be swinging cups, all new swings and disabled access. A Go Fund Me link for donations to reach the full target amount will soon be on the VH website. Aber-porth Village Hall features in the summer "blue disc" collection at Tesco in Cardigan. We are looking for funds for extra kitchen equipment to support our food projects such as the community fridge, Fare Share and lunch club and social coffee mornings. Pop in a disc when you’re there.
Mary Bott MBE
A lovely photo montage of the late Mary Bott MBE (https://www.aberporthvillagehall.co.uk/post/the-biography-of-mary-bott-mbe) has been unveiled in the village hall (https://www.aberporthvillagehall.co.uk/post/celebration-for-mary). Mary was a stalwart trustee of the hall for many years and helped raise thousands of pounds for local charities during her lifetime. She was very keen to get a new hall built so it is fitting that she will take pride of place in the Meet and greet area.
Robin Cooper
Robin grew up in Aberporth and lived here almost all his life, although he spent 4 years at college in Cardiff studying for a degree in Physics and Chemistry. He works for local biopharmaceutical company MicroPharm. He has a keen interest in wildlife and the environment, and walking, gardening and live music.
Dewi Day

Dewi is a specialist in decarbonisation and net zero, working as Energy and Sustainability Advisor for Aberystwyth University. He has used this expertise in setting up the solar panels system at the Village Hall. He has a special interest in establishing updated playground facilities and natural environment improvements.

Fare Share Cymru
Aber-porth Village Hall has been signed up to Fare Share Cymru. Fare Share Cymru is a charity based in Cardiff and collects surplus food to distribute to local community groups. Every Monday afternoon produce from Fare Share Cymru is available - from about 4.30pm to 6pm - the food is available at the village hall with people encouraged to give a small donation. The surplus is then taken to the community fridge in Canolfan Dyffryn for issue on Tuesday. The food - which is different every week but always contains fresh produce - is picked up by our volunteers in Narberth. The Fare Share subscription costs plus volunteer mileage expenses are covered by donations. Food items can vary but are used for our community lunches on Thursdays and turned into delicious meals and treats by our inventive and talented volunteers. Fare Share's motto is: "we believe that no good food should go to waste" - and that's shared by Aber-porth Village Hall!
A very successful day for Aber-porth Carnival and Dydd Iau Mawr

A lot of organising and a large team of volunteers made the day go smoothly with some creative entries for the carnival competitions, difficult decisions for the judging panel. Best stall was the Garreg Las Eisteddfod run by the Merched y Wawr. The afternoon ended with some sporting race events for the children. The evening on Welfare Park started with me reading the almost 100 year tradition of announcing the bilingual declaration which was written in 1929 , confirming that the village Welfare Park belongs to the people of Aberporth. Followed by a variety of musical entertainment on two stages. Clive Davies
