Volunteer Co-ordinator
Salary: £14ph 16 hours a week (£22k pa pro rata)
Contract: 2 years fixed term. May be extended dependent on funding
Location: Aberporth Village Hall and occasional remote working.
About us
Aberporth Village Hall is a successful charitable trust that owns the newly-built village hall and
Canolfan Dyffryn plus manages the green spaces and three car parks in the village.
In 2019 we launched the Heart of the Community project which raised £1.35m for our new village
hall. We focus on initiatives that tackle rural poverty and social exclusion. These include a
community fridge, community garden, recycled clothes rail, social coffee mornings, Fare Share and
community lunches. All these initiatives rely on our dedicated volunteer task force members who
are central to our success.
Your role
As our volunteer co-ordinator your main role will be to recruit, train, support and retain volunteers.
You will look to develop engaging volunteer opportunities that align with our mission and encourage
people to get involved in their local community.
You will build relationships with local partners such as CAVO, Ceredigion County Council, Aberporth
Community Council, attend relevant local network meetings and undertake training as required.
You will build on Aberporth Village Hall’s existing Investing in Volunteers status.
You will work with trustees and volunteers to deliver community-based fundraising events and
activities.
You will ensure volunteers feel valued and motivated plus maintain records and ensure compliance
with safeguarding policies.
Person Specification
Skills and Experience ESSENTIAL
Experience in volunteer management or community engagement roles.
Understanding of recruitment, support and retention of volunteers.
An empathy and understanding of our bilingual community.
Experience of delivering training and supervising individuals/groups.
Good time management with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple
priorities.
Self motivated with the ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
Working knowledge of IT and social media.
Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable.
Passionate about volunteers and community.
DESIRABLE
Confident speaking Welsh.
Experience of working within the charitable/third sector.
Understanding of data protection and GDPR.
Salary: £14 ph
Hours: 16 a week – flexi to suit with volunteers.
Location: Aberporth Village Hall with some home working
Report to: Aberporth Village Hall Committee
