Campaign to improve play area

À campaign has been launched to transform Aberporth's ageing play area into an inclusive accessible space for all.

Aberporth Village Hall is seeking substantial grant funding to transform the village recreation ground with state of the art play equipment, family friendly seating and equal access.

A draft plan has been drawn up which includes new surfacing, multi play area for toddlers, disabled access swing and spin cup, table tennis, basketball area, new seating and fencing.

The campaign was sparked after a local child physiotherapist contacted the committee to say that the current play equipment did nothing to improve children's physical health.

Village hall chair Mike Harwood said: "The existing play area is nearly 40 years old - while some of the equipment is still useable it needs a revamp to make it accessible to all."

The village hall has already raised £20k towards the £150k goal thanks to fundraising efforts by volunteers and donations.

Trustee Dewi Day said: "The refurbishment of Aberporth’s ageing playground will transform a 40-year-old facility into a vibrant, accessible and inclusive play space, supporting physical activity, social interaction and wellbeing for children and young people across the community."
