Hall update #1

Welcome to the first of our regular updates on the new £1.35m hall and Heart of the Community project.

Work began on site just before Christmas. Every four weeks there are progress meetings with the contractors Jamson Estates plus monthly build sub committee meetings where hall trustees oversee the build and ensure that things are all on track in line with funders' expectations. This is on top of the regular monthly village hall meetings so it's a busy period for hall trustees.

Thanks to our major funders - the National Lottery Community Fund, Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme and the UK Government Community Ownership Fund - we have managed to raise most of the funds required to deliver a village hall fit for the 21st century.

Other funders include Garfield Weston, the Moondance Foundation, Ceredigion County Council plus Aberporth Community Council - all giving their support to the Heart of the Community vision of a warm and welcoming community hub.

Concrete has been laid for the foundations and we expect that the steel structure - the "skeleton" of the new hall should arrive on site in the next few days.

The build is scheduled to finish on December 10 so we are hoping that all being well, the community carol service will be held in the new village hall.

We will be sharing progress reports and photographs as the build progresses.

If you have any questions or comments about the build please email us at info@aberporthvillagehall.co.uk. And if you're are interested in joining the trustee board we'd love to hear from you.
