Fridge sweeps the board!

Aberporth Community Fridge swept the board at an awards evening hosted by Cynnal y Cardi and CAVO.

The fridge – which was set up in the autumn of 2021 thanks to a grant from Cynnal y Cardi – scooped the Empowering the Community Award plus the overall People’s Choice Award, as well as volunteer Beryl Green winning CAVO’s Trustee of the Year Award and the fridge volunteers taking the Volunteer Taskforce Award.

The fridge is run under the umbrella of the Village Hall Heart of the Community project which is in the middle of a £1.35m hall rebuild.

The project also hosts a community garden, a recycled clothes rail, social coffee mornings and digi classes.

Village hall project officer Sue Lewis said: “What a fantastic night for us all. We really have a wonderful team of volunteers headed by our hard-working co-ordinator Nicola King. It’s a true community project, run by and used by the community. A great night, a great project and a great team.”
